CHAMBER MUSIC

Chamber music has lain at the heart of recent work. From my rebirth as a composer I began writing a series of duos which may grow further. Predominantly in separate movements, my chamber pieces nevertheless all have a sense of larger canvas, perhaps "little symphonies for small forces". As with so much of my music, there is a frequent re-examination of shared material, some actually derived directly from other works (my song cycles, for example).

One of life's great joys is working in detail with musicians in this most intimate of genres. Through my chamber works I have formed deep friendships with many fine players across the world who have been so very kind as to adopt pieces simply because they resonated.
